Job Overview

Mid-level Mechanical Design Engineer with a minimum of 10+ years of work experience in machine design to support design projects.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Packaging machinery design experienceGood understanding of packaging machine functions and design principles.
  • Experience with complex machine and/or system design using state of the art CAD and analysis tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent).Familiar with Electrical / Controls / Pneumatics and hydraulics basics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to learn new applications without difficulty.
  • Field experience in installation and/or troubleshooting.
  • Industry specific machine design experience:
  • Packaging Machines - Vertical packaging, flow wrapping, bag filling, and palletizing machinery and product feed systems are mandatory.Experience in materials, component selection, and general machine shop processes.
  • Experience with Power transmission, pneumatics, and mechanism design.
  • Knowledgeable in selection of mechanical OEM parts (sprockets, belts, etc.).
  • 3D CAD modelling and detailing engineering – should be able to create 3D modeling and 2D manufacturing drawings applying GD&T principles.
  • Experience in CAD data management using PDM / PLM software.
  • Adherence to CAD standards – ISO, ANSI, experience in MBD will be an added advantage.
  • Should have worked on at least couple of engineering projects from start to finish (Scope, Specification, Idea, Concept Engineering and Cross-functional team experience.

Job Description

  • Research and prepare product/machine specifications.
  • Design responsibility for individual components to complete integrated machine systems.
  • Partner with customers and sales executives, other mechanical and electrical design engineers, manufacturing personnel and customer service technicians.
  • Develops engineering models and/or drawings (using company standards and tools) including Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Project reporting, tracking and organization.
  • Performs continuous improvement/cost reductions on machines and options.
  • Performs risk assessments for specific machines and/or options.
  • Creates documentation needed to approve the quality of machinery/options.
  • Participates in sales meetings to describe product-related issues and ongoing work.
  • Participates in customer meetings to discuss specific machine layouts, specifications, etc.
  • Train Customer Service, Production Engineering and Customer on machine setup, operation, and maintenance.
  • Dealing with Ambiguity: effectively cope with change; shift gears comfortably; decide and act without having the total picture; comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.
  • Performs all commitments/tasks in a timely and professional manner.
