Job Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer working on a variety of projects for the Gulf region, you will be responsible for ensuring engineering team and junior team members are adhering to delivery standards and ensures essential procedures are followed in line with company QA/QC procedures. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating mechanical systems and equipment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or building services engineering (or similar).
  • Minimum [8 years] of experience, with significant experience in a senior or leadership role.
  • Professional license or registration such as CEng, PEng (or similar).
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably with a focus on UAE projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of local regulations and authority requirements, such as DM, ADM, and UAE FIRE CODE.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant international codes and standards such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, BSRIA, SMACNA, DW, NFPA, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge off undertaking cooling load calculations, fresh air calculations, public health calculations, plant sizing, HVAC & plumbing design, firefighting sizing, etc. and relevant Mechanical and Public Health calculations
  • Proficient in using mechanical engineering software tools for analysis and design.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with relevant and latest industry software and technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in BIM, Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, HAP, CIBSE pipe sizing tools, etc.
  • Deal with less routine technical or operational problems with limited supervision and may solve moderately difficult problems that are not immediately evident and require some guidance from a more senior team member.
  • Draws on technical knowledge and experience and information / specification received to develop the most effective and efficient solution for less standard or routine problems with a prescribed outcome.

Job Description

  • Perform lead engineer duties on a variety of projects, responsible for management of time and resources to effectively deliver projects.
  • Create detailed designs, specifications, and drawings for mechanical systems and equipment, considering factors such as feasibility, efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Use computer-aided design (CAD) software and other tools to create and test prototypes.
  • Conduct engineering HVAC and Public health calculations and simulations to determine the performance, reliability, and efficiency of mechanical systems. Analyze the results and make recommendations for improvements or modifications as required.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and standards. Monitor project progress, timelines, and budgets, and provide technical guidance and support to the team.
  • Identify and evaluate suitable mechanical and public health equipment, including HVAC systems, pumps, motors, boilers, pressure vessels, etc. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to prepare detailed selections to assist in the procurement of the required equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, procedures, manuals, and reports. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and clarity of documentation for future reference and audits.
  • Ensure high quality and timely delivery of Building Services Engineering Design.
  • Undertake reviews and proper QA/QC procedures for all projects.
  • Ability to lead and manage projects, teams, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Provide technical support in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations during design, construction, and operation. Identify and mitigate potential risks, hazards, or environmental impacts associated with mechanical systems.
  • When required - oversee testing, inspection, and commissioning activities to ensure the proper functionality of mechanical systems and equipment. Conduct performance tests, troubleshoot issues, and make adjustments as necessary.
