Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and innovative Design Engineer – Cost Down with 3-5 years of experience in mechanical and electrical design. The candidate will play a critical role in driving cost-reduction initiatives by generating and implementing creative design solutions. This role requires expertise in sheet metal design, solenoid coils, and a strong understanding of Should Costing methodologies

Eligibility Criteria

  • 3-5 years in mechanical and electrical design
  • B.E/B.tech required education
  • Proficiency in sheet metal design.
  • Knowledge of solenoid coils and related applications.
  • Awareness of Should Costing methodologies and cost estimation techniques.

Job Description

  • Conduct and facilitate idea generation workshops with cross-functional teams.
  • Consolidate ideas into actionable projects and evaluate their feasibility.
  • Develop and optimize designs with a focus on mechanical and electrical components, particularly sheet metal and solenoid coils.
  • Work collaboratively with manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Utilize Should Costing techniques to estimate product costs and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Benchmark costs against industry standards and provide design alternatives to optimize pricing.
  • Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to validate cost estimates and negotiate better pricing
  • Collaborate with teams across engineering, procurement, and production to implement cost-reduction projects successfully.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and validation phases.
  • Prepare detailed reports on cost-reduction initiatives, tracking progress and savings achieved.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including European colleagues.
