Job Overview

  • In this role, you will plan, develop, and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project.
  • You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • A recognized diploma / course in an engineering or scientific discipline, with extensive experience in piping layout design and drafting.
  • Experience Level: Minimum of 13+ years of working as Piping Designer. Experience of working on OG&C, Semiconductor, Data Center or Power projects will be an additional advantage.
  • Basic skill in oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline’s design responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes relevant to the discipline.
  • Knowledge of discipline Design Guides, mathematical formulae and design calculations used in the discipline.
  • Knowledge of 3D/2D tools, as applicable to the specific discipline work. Working experience on SP3D is mandatory.
  • The above is normally acquired through:
  • Specialized courses in drafting, design and engineering practices, and CAD, OR
  • Application of computer aided engineering (CAE) / computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems.
  • Technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering design.

Job Description

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Requires a basic knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, 2-D and 3-D CAD, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
  • Directly performs the work of designers and drafters of a design group for a business line technology. This work includes the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 3-D Design models and 2-D construction drawings.
  • Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort.
  • Coordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents.
  • Reviews or defines engineering scope changes, as required, for project management.
  • Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use.
