Job Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join our MEICA team to contribute and apply your skills on a variety of water and wastewater projects for our clients regionally and across the UK. You will be responsible for leading and supporting the mechanical design delivery of projects that promise to meet or exceed client expectations. You will represent Arcadis with direct client and stakeholder engagement, contributing towards the achievement of our business objectives and building networks within the industry.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 10+ years’ experience in designing mechanical and process equipment for water supply & water treatment plants, sewerage & sewage treatment plants and drainage system.
  • Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status (or approaching) and membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., IMechE, IET, CIWEM) 
  • Experience of working on design and construct projects using digital design platforms
  • Strong command of BIM / digital/data analytics software as applicable.
  • Application of quality management systems and managing project teams 
  • Knowledge of relevant British Standards is preferable.
  • Demonstrated delivery acumen. 
  • Experience of delivering designs and reports at all stages from concept through to final project and construction delivery.
  • Excellent oral/visual/written communication skills in English language and experience in working with remote clients and multi-disciplinary teams

Job Description

  • Supporting and / or Leading design and advisory services relating to new and existing water and wastewater conveyance and treatment assets.
  • Ensuring safety of yourself and others through design leadership and actions.
  • Technical delivery within a multi-disciplinary team environment, in a mechanical design Lead capacity where assigned, using latest digital design processes and resources.
  • Co-ordinate work with multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and ICA) 
  • Identify and develop innovative and optimised technical solutions based on client needs and drivers
  • Establish and grow relationships with clients and capital alliance partners on project technical, commercial and progress matters
  • Leading and supervising the design team and ensure the project is delivered with high quality within the program and budget
  • Liaising with the lead region to demonstrate an understanding of scope, knowledge, and experience to provide innovative design solutions as per best engineering practices.
  • Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design
  • Ensuring projects meet required technical, legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards and objectives.
  • Capturing key project and technical knowledge, including innovations.
  • Promote MEICA team capability and achievements both internally and externally.
  • Coaching & Mentoring of junior staff
  • Compliance to the Arcadis Health and Safety standards
  • Internally promote and share project achievements and developments
