Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 9+ years of relevant experience in T&D or renewable energy sectors.
  • Proficiency in tools such as ETAP, WinIGS, Dig SILENT, Easy Power, PSCAD, EMTP-RV, or AutoCAD/E3D for substation design.
  • Strong understanding of grid codes (e.g., CEC, CSA, NERC, IEC standards).
  • Excellent communication skills, strong leadership abilities, and the capability to independently coordinate and deliver high-quality technical reports.

Job Description

  • Substation Design and System Studies / EMT Studies:
  • Conduct steady-state, dynamic, and transient power system studies (load flow, short circuit, stability, protection coordination, etc.).
  • Perform EMT simulations using tools like PSCAD, EMTP-RV, or RTDS for complex grid integration scenarios.
  • Analyse grid code compliance for renewable energy integration (wind, solar, BESS).
  • Develop models for inverters, FACTS devices, HVDC systems, and protection schemes.
  • Collaborate with utilities, developers, and OEMs to interpret study results and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Lead the design of high-voltage substations (up to 765 kV) including layout, equipment selection, and protection/control systems.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
  • Ensure compliance with CSA, IEC, IEEE, and utility-specific standards.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and SCADA teams for integrated substation design.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities as needed.
