Job Overview

  • The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products.
  • Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.
  • Whirlpool is looking for a qualified candidate for the role of Associate Engineer – Setting File / Spin & Wash Algorithm for the Laundry Systems team at Pondicherry.

Eligibility Criteria

  • EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • ME / M Tech (Mechanical) 0 - 2 Years
  • B.E (Mechanical) 3 - 6 years 
  • Basic knowledge of control logic, sensors, and actuators used in laundry appliances.
  • Familiarity with Setting File / Cycle parameter tuning and test-based optimization.
  • Exposure to data acquisition and analysis tools (Excel, MATLAB, Python preferred).
  • Ability to interpret performance metrics – wash index, spin efficiency, energy consumption, noise, and water usage.
  • Working knowledge of DFMEA / DVPR documentation and WPD methodology.
  • Understanding of embedded control system validation or software-hardware integration concepts.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods / DOE for test planning and data correlation.
  • Exposure to wash algorithm simulation or model-based calibration tools is desirable.
  • Strong documentation and configuration-management skills for Setting Files.

Job Description

  • Develop and calibrate Setting Files defining wash, rinse, and spin parameters (speed, time, water level, temperature, energy, etc.) to meet target performance and fabric care.
  • Support algorithm tuning for spin and wash logic using experimental and data-driven approaches.
  • Execute design validation plans (DVPR) and automated lab tests to verify wash quality, spin efficiency, and cycle consistency.
  • Conduct data acquisition and analysis using digital tools and scripts (Python, MATLAB, Excel) to derive performance insights and optimize control logic.
  • Collaborate with Control & Electronics, Performance Engineering, NVH, and Powertrain teams to ensure algorithm-to-system integration and validation.
  • Support creation, revision control, and maintenance of Setting File databases across multiple platforms and configurations.
  • Participate in FMEA / DFMEA activities and support risk mitigation during design and validation phases.
  • Develop automated test setups or macros for parameter testing, data logging, and reporting to improve lab efficiency.
